Background Statement:
Planning Commission Action Application No. 24-0287 by Stefan Brooks is a request to permit the expansion of an existing substation located at 1606 Hardy Cash Drive, one (1) unaddressed parcel abutting a portion of the eastern boundary of 1606 Hardy Cash Drive, a portion of 1618 Hardy Cash Drive, and a portion of one (1) unaddressed parcel abutting a portion of the eastern boundary of 1606 Hardy Cash Drive [LRSNs: 7001883, 7001884, 7001889, and 7003018]. The proposed development includes the replacement of one of the substation transformers and associated equipment. The proposed improvements also include expansion of the fenced area and access road, which also serves communications equipment.
The Hampton Community Plan (2006, as amended) provides policies calling for well-designed public facilities that support growth, provide continuity of service, and minimize negative environmental impacts. The proposed expansion of the substation supports these Hampton Community Plan policies. The property is also located within the Coliseum Central Master Plan (2015, as amended) area. The subject properties are not highlighted and there are no specific objectives or recommendations related to the proposed use within the Plan
