Title
Hampton City Schools - Cuts and Conversations
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Cuts & Conversations is a project-based learning initiative created by Freshmen Academy students at Hampton High School to support and uplift young people through mentorship, meaningful dialogue, and a focus on mental health. Twice each month, participants receive professional haircuts from trusted community barbers and licensed staff while engaging in intentional conversations centered on personal growth, decision-making, and life skills. Each session also includes a shared meal, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
What began as a student-led project has grown into something much more: a movement rooted in connection, dignity, and empowerment.
