Resolution Authorizing the Transfer of 10 Lawrence Street (LRSN 12006091) from the City of Hampton to the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Pursuant to Code of Virginia § 15.2-1800, as Part of the Buckroe Master Plan
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
On behalf of the City, in October 1998, Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (“HRHA”) began acquiring properties in the College Court neighborhood, which is a strategic area in the Buckroe Master Plan. To date, 35 structures have been acquired and demolished, with 10 duplexes remaining to be acquired along with the City-owned property identified as 10 Lawrence Street (LRSN 12006091) (the “Property”). Staff recommends that the City transfer the Property to HRHA, pursuant to Code of Virginia §15.2-1800, for redevelopment in accordance with the Buckroe Master Plan.

WHEREAS, on behalf of the City, in October 1998, Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (“HRHA”) began acquiring properties in the College Court neighborhood, which is a strategic area in the Buckroe Master Plan;
WHEREAS, to date, 35 structures have been acquired and demolished, with 10 duplexes remaining to be acquired along with the City-owned property identified as 10 Lawrence Street (LRSN 12006091) (the “Property”);
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City transfer the Property to HRHA; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Code of Virginia § 15.2-1800, the City agrees to transfer 10 Lawrence Street (LRSN 12006091) to HRHA for redevelopment in accordance with the Buckroe Master Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, as follows:
1. That it approves the transfer of 10 Lawrence Street (LRSN 12006091) to Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority;
2. That the City Manager, or her authorized designee, and Clerk of Council are hereby authorized to execute and deliver to HRHA all necessary legal documents to effectuate this transfer, including but not limited to a deed, contract, release for sale, transfer, and conveyance; and
3. That a copy of this resolution be attached to the deed of conveyance.
