Title

Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Council Approved Budget and Appropriate a Total of $500,000 from the Capital Budget (Projects) Contingency Fund Balance Account to the City's contribution to the Boys and Girls Club Capital Campaign.

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The Boys and Girls Club on Shell Road has completed its gym expansion and is now working to renovate the interior of its original classroom space. The City contributed $500,000 as a matching commitment for the gym addition. The Club and its Board are now requesting an additional $500,000 to match $750,000 they have secured from outside donors to move forward with the classroom renovation project. This funding will support necessary upgrades to enhance the facility and continue providing essential services to the community.

Discussion:

City Council is being requested to appropriate $500,000 from the Capital Budget (Projects) Fund Balance account to support the Boys and Girls Club Capital Campaign for the renovation of classrooms at the original facility located on Shell Road location. This request follows the City’s previous contribution of $500,000 toward the Club’s gym expansion. The Boys and Girls Club and its Board have since secured $750,000 in external donations toward the renovation project and are seeking a City match to move forward with the necessary interior upgrades.

Impact:

$500,000.

Recommendation:

Rec

Approve.
