Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Council Approved Budget and Accept and Appropriate the 2024 TRIAD Crime Prevention for Seniors Award Program Grant awarded by the Office of the Attorney General to the City of Hampton, Virginia
Purpose
Triad is a cooperative effort of law enforcement agencies (police/fire/sheriffs), senior citizens, and senior organizations, focused on reducing crimes against our most vulnerable citizens: our seniors.
Discussion:
The goal of Triad is to reduce the fear of crime and victimization among seniors by increasing awareness of scams and frauds targeting them, strengthening communication between the law enforcement and senior communities, and educating seniors on local and state resources that are available in their community.
Impact:
This grant award will help support crime prevention efforts for the senior citizens in the City of Hampton. The grant award is $2,125 with no local match required.

WHEREAS, the Office of the Attorney General has awarded the City of Hampton, Virginia a 2024 TRIAD Grant in the amount of the $2, 125 in state funding;
WHEREAS, the TRIAD Grant award requires no local match;
WHEREAS, the TRIAD Grant which totals $2,125 will be used by the Hampton TRIAD to fund crime prevention efforts for senior citizens within the City of Hampton; and
WHEREAS, the grant award is for the period of June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia hereby amends its Fiscal Year 2025 Council Approved Budget to accept and appropriate the TRIAD Grant award in the amount of $2, 125, and any supplemental funding, from the Office of the Attorney General, to the Grant Fund to fund crime prevention efforts for senior citizens in accordance with the grant agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of Hampton, Virginia authorizes the City Manager, or her designee, to take any and all actions necessary to implement this grant award.
