Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Newtown Junior Golf Club Program (“the Program”) seeks to provide a safe and supervised golfing program educating and exposing youth to terms, techniques, ethics, and adult role models in the golfing community. Life-long learning opportunities and growth are offered to program participants through the world of golf.
The Program takes participants to LPGA and PGA tournaments and places participants in local adult golf tournaments. The Program also offers free golf equipment, resources, and curriculum to program participants.
The attached Lease permits Newtown Junior Golf Club to operate its program for 100 program hours per year for a term of three years, with one two year renewal option. No rental fee will be charged to Newtown Junior Golf Club, and the Hamptons provides two golf carts for use by the Program.

WHEREAS, the Newtown Improvement and Civic Club, Inc. operating as Newtown Junior Golf Club desires to lease space at the Hamptons Golf Course to administer its Junior Golf Club Program (“the Program”);
WHEREAS, the Program seeks to provide a safe and supervised golfing program educating and exposing youth to terms, techniques, ethics, and adult role models in the golfing community; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the terms and conditions of the proposed lease, subject to revision and approval by the City Attorney, are acceptable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, as follows:
1. That it approves the leasing for nonexclusive use of the concession and seating areas, restrooms, clubhouse, practice putting green, driving range, and golf course at the Hamptons Golf Course, 320 Butler Farm Road to Newtown Improvement and Civic Club, Inc. operating as Newtown Junior Golf Club, and
2. That the City Manager or her authorized designee is authorized to execute and deliver to Newtown Improvement and Civic Club, Inc. operating as Newtown Junior Golf Club a lease in substantially the same form as attached hereto, subject to approval by the City Attorney.
