Purpose

Purpose/Background:

The First Tee of the Virginia Peninsula is a golf program for youth ages 5-17 that provides educational programs that promote life skills, character development, and healthy choices through the game of golf.  The golf program focuses on healthy habits for physical, emotional, and social wellbeing and is based around nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.  Instructors provide coaching on these nine core values through the following activities: making proper introductions, managing emotions, resolving conflicts, setting up step-by-step goals, planning for the future, and appreciating diversity.

First Tee offers this program at a number of local and regional golf courses in addition to the Hamptons Golf Course, including Kiln Creek Golf Club, Newport News Golf Club at Dear Run, Two Rivers Country Club, The Pines Golf Course at Fort Eustis, and Colonial Heritage Golf Club in Williamsburg.

The attached Lease permits First Tee to operate its program for 250 program hours per year for a term of three years, with two one year renewal options.  No rental fee will be charged to First Tee and the Hamptons Golf Course will also not charge First Tee participants for greens fees, range balls, or cart rental.
