Use Permit Application by Car Farmer & Sales to Allow Used Car Sales to Operate at 690 Bell Street [1002400]

 

Purpose

Background Statement:

The applicant is seeking approval of a Use Permit to operate Car Farmer & Sales, a used vehicle sales business at 690 Bell Street. The subject parcel consists of a 0.97 acre lot, with the proposed use occupying approximately 3,500 square feet of an existing 5,500 square foot building, that will contain office space, restrooms, storage, service bays and vehicle service operations.  The property is zoned General Commercial (C-3) District which allows used vehicle sales, subject to an approved use permit.

 

Car Farmer & Sales will operate as an additional use to an existing light vehicle repair business. The proposed hours of operation would be Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one (1) to two (2) daily staff.

 

The Hampton Community Plan (2006, as amended) recommends commercial use for the subject property, with Public/Semipublic and Low Density Residential uses on surrounding parcels in the West Pembroke Corridor. The proposed used car sales establishment will nurture small and start-up businesses and is consistent with the goals and policies of the Hampton Community Plan.
