Title
Briefing on Resilient Hampton Fox Hill, Grandview, and Harris Creek Water Plan
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND
In summer 2025, the City launched its third watershed-level process to identify coastal resilience and adaptation opportunities in the Fox Hill, Grandview Island, and Harris Creek neighborhoods. This is a briefing to present an overview of the planning process, initial community feedback, and the next steps that will be taken to develop the plan. This water plan is a continuation of the Resilient Hampton’s efforts to create watershed and neighborhood-level plans and projects for resilience, known as Phase II of the Resilient Hampton Initiative.
Discussion:
The Fox Hill, Grandview, and Harris Creek Water Plan will build upon the previous Newmarket Creek Water Plan and the Downtown, Phoebus, and Buckroe Water Plan. Both water plans serve as platforms for current and future investments in resilience infrastructure.
Impact:
Citizens throughout the City will benefit from the plan and the projects it results in, which will address coastal resiliency, reoccurring flooding, while enhancing our waterways, environmental sustainability, tax base, and quality of life. The Resilient Hampton Team will use the projects, programs, and policy identified within the plan to guide work planning, inform funding strategies, and prioritize grant seeking.
