Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2021 Council Approved Budget to Accept and Appropriate the FY 2020 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program Grant Awarded by the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program Grant will provide funding to assist eligible states, local units of government, and tribes in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the coronavirus. Funds awarded under the CESF Program must be utilized to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus. Allowable projects and purchases include, but are not limited to, overtime salary cost, equipment (including law enforcement and medical personal protective equipment), hiring, supplies (such as gloves, masks, sanitizer), training, travel expenses (particularly related to the distribution of resources to the most impacted areas), and addressing the medical needs of inmates in state, local, and tribal prisons, jails, and detention centers.

Impact:
This grant funding is awarded by the Department of Justice(DOJ) Office of Justice Programs and will be utilized by the Hampton Sheriff's Office to purchase supplies and fund conditions related to the Coronavirus pandemic for a period of 2 years. The grant award is $160,366 with no local match required.
