Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
An update regarding the park project at the former Virginia State School site. Last Council brief was February 2025. Includes the park concept, engagement update, and next steps.
Discussion:
The project comes from an intensive community engagement process following the sale of the Virginia School site land. The plan involves a new park in the West Shell neighborhood of about 10.67 acres. Ultimately the final park cost is $5.6 million. The funding strategy includes a grant application, CIP request, and reserved funding from the land sale.
