Consideration of appointments to the Citizens' Unity Commission (CUC)
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Enrique Zapatero, Luretta Ray, Mary Wallace and Sharmane Baynard will have completed their first full terms on June 30, 2017, and they are eligible for reappointment until June 30, 2021.
Deena Franklin resigned on January 19, 2017. Council is being asked to appoint a replacement until June 30, 2021.
Diretta Glover was appointed on November 2016, but it was discovered that she was a Newport News resident which made her ineligible. Council is being asked to fill that vacancy until June 30, 2021.
The second terms of Ruthann Kellum and Kayla Hicks will expire on June 30, 2017. Council is being asked to fill both vacancies until June 30, 2021.
Currently there are four vacancies from Jodie James, Sarah Drew, Joshua Head and Gloria Day. Council is being asked to fill these vacancies until June 30, 2019.
There are individuals in the Board Bank who have expressed a desire to serve on this board. Those applications are being provided to Council.
