Title

Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Council Approved Budget to Accept and Appropriate the 2025 Marcus Alert/ Co-Response Team Grant made by Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The Hampton Police and Community Services Board have been in partnership for over a year to provide a coordinated response to individuals experiencing varying degrees of mental health crisis. Funds are being provided in the grant for agencies to assist with the overall cost of purchasing equipment to assist co-responder teams functioning under the Marcus Alert Program. Funds would be used to purchase 6 Dell Tablet computers to facilitate the field work of the co-response team members.

Discussion:

Funds would be used to purchase Dell Tablet Computers to facilitate the field work of the co-response team members. It is critical for Marcus Alert team members to access medical information, organize efficient documentation, and have access to GPS navigation and logistics to perform daily duties. The addition of tablet computers would meet the needs of the team by increasing connectivity and provide members with durable and portable technology to assist with a timely and efficient response. This, in turn, would improve response times, enhance the accuracy of documentation processes, facilitate better coordination between members and with the community, and empower teams to provide more efficient and informed support to individuals in crisis.

Impact:

The City has been awarded $12,870 in state grant funds from DCJS. No local cash or in-kind match is required. This is a one-time grant.

Recommendation:
