Resolution Approving the City of Hampton, Virginia's Participation in and Appropriation of the 2017 Public Safety Answering Point Grant through the Virginia E-911 Services Board

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The Virginia E911 Service Board awards funds annually to local jurisdictions to provide training to E911 personnel. The Hampton Police Division uses these funds to provide training to dispatchers on various topics.

 

Discussion:

This grant program does not require any funding from the City of Hampton.  The benefits of this program are that dispatch personnel are provided with the most current training so they can offer the highest quality of service to Hampton residents.

 

Impact:

This program promotes the professional growth of those attending the training and enhances the E911 operations for the City of Hampton which supports the city’s efforts to provide the highest level of customer service in a fiscally sound manner.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Hampton has been awarded the FY 2017 Public Safety Answering Point Grant in the amount of $2,000.00 with no match required; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant award covers the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017,

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton accepts and appropriates the FY 2017 Public Safety Answering Point Grant in the amount of $2,000.00 awarded/made by the Virginia E-911 Services Board in accordance with the grant agreement;

                     

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the City Manager or her designee to take the necessary steps to implement this grant award.
