Hampton Workforce Development Initiative Update
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Update on work being done by the Economic Development Department to reduce the number of unemployed and underemployed Hampton residents and increase the number of prospective job candidates for Hampton businesses.
Discussion:
Staff will also discuss the state of the workforce, programs and services planned for employers, job seekers and youth related training and employment.
Impact:
This workforce development iniative is a strategic components of economic development. In addition, it continues to the efforts to enhance the quality of life for the Hampton citizens. This is accomplished by developing their work skills to a point of certification. The ultimate goal is to elevate the unemployment and underemployed Hampton residents.
