Title
Consideration of Appointments to the War Memorial Stadium Advisory Board
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
On June 2, 2025, the Peninsula Stadium Authority’s Board voted to dissolve the Authority, pursuant to Virginia Code § 15.2-5616, effective July 1, 2025. On June 11, 2025, City Council also voted to dissolve the Authority. At the same meeting, City Council established the War Memorial Stadium Advisory Board (the “Advisory Board”) to fulfill the need for ongoing community input regarding the operation and maintenance of War Memorial Stadium. Due to the resignation of Melissa Brady, there are currently ten (10) voting Authority Board members and one (1) emeritus Authority Board member. To ensure a full set of voting members, Staff’s recommendation is to appoint the ten (10) current voting members as voting members and the one (1) emeritus member as voting members of the Advisory Board.

For example, those individuals that served for longer periods of time on the Authority’s Board are being recommended for shorter initial terms on the Advisory Board.
At the Advisory Board’s initial meeting, the agenda will include officer elections and the adoption of bylaws. While generally, the meeting schedule will be the same as the Authority’s was - first Mondays of the month at noon at War Memorial Stadium conference room - due to summer schedules, the date for the July 2025 meeting is still being determined.
Recommendation
