Title
Ordinance to Amend And Re-Enact Chapter 2 Of The Zoning Ordinance Of The City Of Hampton, Virginia Entitled “Definitions” By Amending Section 2-2 Pertaining to Chesapeake Bay Definitions
Purpose
Background Statement:
This item was heard by the Planning Commission in July, and the Commission recommended approval. City Council requested additional time to better understand the Chesapeake Bay Preservation District and consider options related to the accompanying amendment, ZOA No.17-00004. So, at the August legislative session, City Council referred the zoning ordinance amendments back to Planning Commission. This item was deferred by Planning Commission due to its attachment to ZOA No.17-00004, and the Commission’s desire to further contemplate ZOA No.17-00004. Since last heard by the Planning Commission, no changes were made to this amendment. However, it is now being presented in conjunction with both ZOA No.17-00004 and 17-00015, which are alternatives to one another, though the approval of either should also lead to the approval of ZOA No.17-00005 to provide related definitions.
This particular amendment provides clarification to the district by providing definitions to words not previously defined in the ordinance. These newly defined terms include: green area; impervious surface; resource delineation; special green area; water quality impact assessment, major; and water quality impact assessment minor.
