Purpose
The Coliseum Drive Extension Segment B Project (UPC 113988) (“Project”) area begins at the north terminus of the Coliseum Drive Segment (Phase) A Project (UPC 108731) and proceeds northwest to the North Campus Parkway/Magruder Boulevard intersection. The Project consists of an alternative analysis, environmental study, and preliminary project tasks. City Council previously approved the request to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to program this Project into the VDOT Six Year Improvement Plan and for the City Manager or authorized designee to execute the VDOT administration agreements and any additional agreements necessary for the implementation of the Project.

In 2022 an application was made and awarded for congressionally directed spending through Senator Kaine’s office for the Coliseum Drive Extension Segment B Project. The Project was awarded $1,500,000 in Highway Infrastructure Programs Community Project Grant funding and requires a local match of $375,000 that is requested to be appropriated as part of this action.
