Reappropriate the Fiscal Year 2016 Hampton City Schools' Contribution to the City of Hampton, Virginia's Youth Violence Prevention Efforts from the Donations Received-Restricted Fund Balance in the amount of $10,000

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

Hampton City Schools provided a contribution in fiscal year 2016 in the amount of $10,000 to be used towards the City's youth violence prevention efforts. 

 

Discussion:

These funds were contributed by Hampton City Schools' with the sole stipulation that the funds be used by the Youth Violence Prevention Unit to motivate and educate young people so that youth violence does not occur.  Staff has designated these funds to support travel related costs to the annual Cities United conference, to fund an assessment study and other initiatives that address youth violence in the City of Hampton and benefit Hampton City Schools students.  

 

Impact:

This is an annual contribution with no City match required.

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia reappropriate the fiscal Year 2016 Hampton City Schools' contribution to the City of Hampton, Virginia's youth violence prevention efforts from the Donations Received-Restricted Fund Balance in the amount of $10,000.
