Title
Resolution Requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to Add and Delete Certain Streets to Those Classified as Principal and Minor Arterial Roads and Collector Roads and Local Streets

Purpose
Annually a list of new streets which have been constructed within the City of Hampton (“City”) is compiled and sent to the Virginia Department of Transportation ("VDOT") for maintenance fund eligibility. Once VDOT accepts those streets into the maintenance system, the City receives annual funding in support of those streets. In order for VDOT to accept those streets, City Council must first adopt a resolution to officially submit those new lane miles; as well as adjustments and removals as needed for any previously approved streets. Only public roads are included.

The current application includes the addition of streets and roadways meeting those classifications. The streets being added are:
1) 50th Street from Aberdeen Road to Old Aberdeen Road
2) Birch Avenue from 0.08 North Byrd Street to 50th Street
3) Butler Farm Road from 0.37 West Neil Armstrong Parkway to 0.56 West Neil Armstrong Parkway
4) Condor Street from Grant Street to Lincoln Street
5) Grant Street from Grant Circle to Armistead Avenue North
6) Michael Selby Drive from Deborah Road to Southeast Cul-de-sac
7) Rocket Way from North Campus Parkway to Northeast Cul-de-sac
8) Thomas Nelson Drive from 0.65 East Big Bethel Road to 0.89 East Big Bethel Road

The street being removed is a duplicate Greenlawn Avenue from West Pembroke Avenue to dead end.
