Title
Update on the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Planning Process
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The City of Hampton is engaging residents, stakeholders, and community groups in the development of its Five-Year Consolidated Housing Plan (2025-2029), 2025 Annual Action Plan, and Assessment of Impediments to Fair Housing. Community Development staff with the assistance of the Mosaic Community Planning consultant firm are in the process of engaging residents and community organizations related to housing and community development needs across the city. The team has employed a variety of methods including meeting with boards and commissions, holding focus groups, and gathering print and online surveys. This engagement process will help shape strategies for future federal funding and ensure the plans reflect the needs of Hampton’s diverse communities. Draft plans are anticipated to be brought forward for public and City Council consideration in the coming months.
Discussion:
Community Development staff will provide an overview of the process, past activities implemented with the funding, key questions being asked, and receive comments and considerations on issues that are covered in the Consolidated Plan and Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing. A public hearing will also be held in the evening to allow for public comment into the planning process.
Impact:
The insights collected from this session will help to shape priorities for the Consolidated Plan and strategies to address Fair Housing impediments.
