Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Chapter 5 - Animals of the Hampton City Code has not been updated in its totality in several years. As a result, Chapter 5 - Animals requires some "housekeeping amendments" to ensure that our City ordinances are in keeping with their cited sources in the State Code. Many of the proposed amendments are purely aesthetic, i.e. changing written numbers to actual numerals.

It bears noting that these amendments are not related to the leash law or the number of animals an individual citizen may own. Those issues are on the Animal Control Advisory Committee's agenda for its July 21, 2016 meeting. Additional amendments as to those two issues may be proposed following that meeting.

Discussion:

Approval of these amendments will ensure that Hampton's animal-related ordinances are aligned with the Code of Virginia.

Impact:

N/A

Recommendation:
Rec
Approve Ordinance.
