Resolution in Recognition of Steven D. Bond
Body
WHEREAS, Steven D. Bond is a native and lifelong resident of Hampton Roads, graduating from Indian River High School, Chesapeake, Virginia;
WHEREAS, he is a graduate of the College of William and Mary where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Government and his Juris Doctor from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law;
WHEREAS, prior to coming to Hampton, he worked in private practice and as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the cities of Norfolk and Newport News;
WHEREAS, in 2007, he began working as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Hampton where his primary responsibilities were Public Safety and Employment Law;
WHEREAS, in 2014, he began working as an Assistant City Manager for the City of Hampton where he was responsible for overseeing several key departments, leading initiatives to address a variety of community issues, and assisting the City Manager in the development, implementation, and administration of City policies, programs, and operations;
WHEREAS, he completed the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative in February 2022 and led a task force aimed at developing solutions for preventing gun violence;
WHEREAS, in December 2023 he was appointed as the Interim City Attorney where he led a staff of attorneys and paralegals who protect the City’s interests and provide counsel to the City Council, City Manager, staff, Boards and Commissions, and other entities while ensuring an outstanding reputation of the City Attorney’s Office throughout the Commonwealth;
WHEREAS, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at Strayer University;
