Purpose
Background Statement:
Use Permit Application No. 24-0325 is a request to operate a day care 2, commercial, at 1416 Todds Lane [LRSN: 3001227]. The property is zoned One-Family Residential (R-13) District which allows for the requested use, subject to an approved Use Permit. More specifically the proposed day care facility would be for up to 51 children, between the ages of 16 months and 12 years old, and up to ten (10) adult employees based on enrollment and the required teacher/student ratio. The proposed facility would utilize an existing approximately 3,200 square foot building, consisting of four (4) primary classrooms, support rooms such as an office, kitchen, and restrooms, and an outdoor play area. The hours of operation requested by the applicant are 6:00AM to 6:00PM.
The Hampton Community Plan (2006, as amended) recommends public/semi-public use for the subject property. Further policies related to this land use application include promoting access to educational opportunities, particularly for youth; promoting educational facilities that have a high degree of flexibility while recognizing that the world and community values are rapidly changing; and nurturing small and start-up businesses.
