Consideration of appointments to Citizens Police Advisory Group (CPAG)

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

 

The term of Jonathan Welters (Neighborhood Commission) ended on December 31, 2020.  Mr. Welters is not eligible for reappointment as he has resigned from the Neighborhood Commission and no longer resides in Hampton.  Council is being asked to appoint a Neighborhood Commission Representative to a term to expire December 31, 2025.

 

The terms of John Gately (Community at Large) and Bishop Lamont Moss (Faith Community) ended on December 31, 2020.  They are both eligible for reappointment.  Council is being asked to appoint two individuals until December 31, 2025.

 

The terms of Angelo Suggs (Community at Large), Rev. Andre McCloud (Faith Community), Ann Cherry (Civil Rights), and Robert Boester (Legal Community) will end on December 31, 2021, and all are eligible for reappointment.  Council is being asked to appoint individuals until December 31, 2025.

 

Vacancies exist for another representative of youth and also of higher education. 

 

There are individuals in the Board Bank who have expressed a desire to serve on this board. Those applications are being provided to Council.

Brad Young currently serves on the Grievance Board until June 30, 2025

 

Chad Roberts currently serves on H20 until June 30, 2023

 

Cassandra Alston Townsley currently serves on the Hampton Senior Citizens Advisory Committee until March 30, 2025

 

Rev. Joshua King and Philip Siff currently serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals and are not eligible to serve per Hampton Zoning Code 13-1.  "Members of the board shall hold no other public office in the city except that one may be a member of the Planning Commission."
