Historic Carousel Option Evaluation Study
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
This Evaluation Study provides an overview of the relocation of the carousel, and provides high level advantages and disadvantages of options for consideration. Current Location: Leave the carousel at its current location. Mill Point Park: Relocate the carousel to the site in Mill Point Park as recommended by the Implementation Plan. Buckroe Beach: Relocate the carousel to a site at Buckroe Beach.
Discussion:
This study addresses several aspects of the relocation, including (1) how the location of the carousel supports downtown revitalization; (2) ease of access to, and use of the carousel by residents and visitors; (3) protection and preservation of the historic carousel; and (4) costs of relocation, both short term and long term.
Impact:
The cost will range by option up to $2.82 million.
