Title

Ordinance Approving the Amendment of the City of Hampton's FY 2018 Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership Program Annual Action Plan

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The City of Hampton (the "City") is amending its FY 2018 Annual Action Plan (the "Plan") for Housing and Community Development which covers the FY 2017 - 2018 timeframe.

Discussion:

The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") annually awards CDBG and HOME funds to the City to develop viable urban communities by providing improved housing, suitable living environments, and economic opportunities for those in the low-to-moderate household income bracket. The City uses these funds to complement other resources for implementing the Hampton Neighborhood Initiative. This amendment transfers funds from the Queen's River Road Project to the Neighborhood Commercial Preservation Activity.

A public hearing will be held on October 11, 2017 to receive public comments on the amendment to the Plan and seek Council's approval to adopt the amendment to the Plan. The amendment to the Plan is available for public examination in the Housing and Neighborhood Services Division of the Community Development Department located at 22 Lincoln Street, 5th floor, Hampton, Virginia 23669 and online at www.hampton.gov/neighborhoods.

Impact:

Public comment is sought on the amendment to the Plan regarding utilization of HUD funds to support implementation of the Hampton Neighborhood Initiative.
