Body
WHEREAS, Cheran Cordell Ivery graduated from Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California;

WHEREAS, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel Administration with a concentration in Law from Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration; and her Juris Doctorate Degree from William & Mary School of Law;

WHEREAS, she was a Division 1 women’s basketball player for Cornell University;

WHEREAS, in 2018, Attorney Ivery joined the City of Hampton as its City Attorney. She led a staff of attorneys and paralegals who protect the City’s interest and provide counsel to City Departments, Boards and Commissions, and other entities;

WHEREAS, Attorney Ivery has made an indelible impact during her tenure, providing outstanding counsel and support to the Hampton City Council, City Manager and staff while ensuring an outstanding reputation of the City Attorney’s Office throughout the Commonwealth;

WHEREAS, prior to coming to Hampton, she worked for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, where she served in various roles including Interim City Attorney, Assistant City Attorney, Sr. Deputy City Attorney, and Deputy City Attorney;

WHEREAS, she has also served as a Judicial Law Clerk, a Bankruptcy Associate, an Adjunct Professor of Law at William & Mary School of Law and In-House Counsel for DWM Properties LLC;
