Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The City owns a certain parcel of land currently consisting of 0.11 ± Acres (4,850 Sq. Ft.), being identified as LRSN 1000654, which is commonly known as 708 Spruce Avenue (the “City Property”). Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (“HRHA”) has received an inquiry regarding interest in developing the property for residential purposes. The City Council has designated HRHA as the agency to implement the City's Community Plan as it relates to residential development and redevelopment with a residential component. Transferring the Property to HRHA is consistent with this policy.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Hampton (“City”) owns a certain parcel of land currently consisting of 0.11 ± Acres (4,850 Sq. Ft.), being identified as LRSN 1000654, which is commonly known as 708 Spruce Avenue (the "City Property”);

WHEREAS, Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (“HRHA”) has received an inquiry regarding interest in developing the property for residential purposes;

WHEREAS, the City Council has designated HRHA as the agency to implement the City’s Community Plan as it relates to residential development and redevelopment with a residential component;

WHEREAS, the City accordingly desires to transfer title to the City Property to HRHA for redevelopment in accordance with the City’s Community Plan; and

WHEREAS, a public hearing has been conducted in accordance with Section 15.2-1800 et seq. of the Code of Virginia.
