Title
FY17 Annual Action Plan
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The City of Hampton (the "City") has completed a draft of its FY 2017 Annual Action Plan (the "Plan") for Housing and Community Development, which covers the FY 2016 - 2017 timeframe and provides a review of the City’s proposed activities under the 2016-2017 Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") and HOME Investment Partnership Programs. HUD annually awards CDBG and HOME funds to the City to develop viable urban communities by providing improved housing, suitable living environments, and economic opportunities for those in the low- to moderate-household income bracket. The City uses these funds to complement other resources for implementation of the Hampton Neighborhood Initiative. The Plan includes the utilization of funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") that will impact 43 homes. Public hearings will be held on April 27 and May 4, 2016. The first is to receive public comments on the Plan, and the second, to seek Council's approval to adopt the Plan. The Plan is available for public examination at the Housing and Neighborhood Services Division of the Community Development Department located at 22 Lincoln Street, 5th floor, Hampton, Virginia 23669, and online at hampton.gov/neighborhoods.
Impact:
Public comment is sought on the Plan regarding utilization of HUD funds to support implementation of the Hampton Neighborhood Initiative.
