Resolution Requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to Program into the 6-Year Improvement Plan to Authorize the City Manager or her Designee to Execute Agreements and Appropriation of Funds for the Following Nine (9) Projects
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The City has requested that VDOT program nine new projects into the Six Year Improvement Plan. These projects are funded 100% with either Federal or State funds. Project Administration Agreements with VDOT are necessary for securing the State and Federal Funds. A brief presentation will be given in the afternoon work session and the actual resolution is on the evening legislative session for adoption on the consent agenda.
Discussion:
In accordance with the VDOT project allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by a City Council resolution be made in order that the Department can program a highway project in the City of Hampton. VDOT requires that City Council grant authority for the City Manager to execute project administration agreements and City/State Agreements for implementation of these projects. These funds are reimbursable and are paid on a reimbursement basis following the expenditure of City funds.
