Motion to Accept the Donation of Camera Equipment Valued in Excess of $7,300 from Canon Virginia, Inc. to the Hampton Police Division for its Forensics Unit.
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
In an effort to look for alternative methods of acquiring much needed equipment for the Hampton Police Division, the Division's Forensic Unit made an application with the Canon Virginia's Corporate Donation program to acquire new camera equipment. The equipment is needed to replace current and outdated cameras used by the Forensics Unit. The new cameras will provide unit members with the latest technology that will enhance their capabilities out in the field at crime scenes, major incidents, and other events where the division may have a need for top quality photographic technology.
Discussion:
Canon Virginia's Corporate Donations Committee has approved the Hampton Police Division's application for new camera equipment totaling in excess of $7,300 which includes the following: One EOS R mirrorless camera, one EOS RP mirrorless camera, one EOS R100 mirrorless camera, one EOS R10 mirrorless camera, one EOS R50 mirrorless camera, three RF 18-45mm lenses, two RF 18-150mm lenses, and one 600EX-RT Flash.
Impact:
This donation will save the City and Division in excess of $7,300 for having to purchase this equipment new.
