Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Council Approved Budget to Accept and Appropriate the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia Specialty Dockets Grant, Hampton General District Behavioral Health Docket.

Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) of the Supreme Court of Virginia assists local General District Courts’ Behavioral Health Dockets through Specialty Docket Grants. With an ever-increasing population of individuals with behavioral health issues becoming justice-involved, it is Hampton’s Behavioral Health Docket goal to provide better oversight, community supervision, and data collection.

The City of Hampton (the “City”) has been awarded, as fiduciary, a 2025 Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia Specialty Dockets Grant to support Hampton’s Behavioral Health Docket.

Discussion:
This grant is awarded to the City of Hampton as the fiduciary agent Funding will go towards staffing a Pretrial Officer to support Hampton’s General District Court Behavioral Health Docket. Currently there are no other funding sources for this needed support.

Impact:
The City has been awarded $63,725.81 in funding from the 2025 Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia Specialty Dockets Grant with a 25% local cash match of $15,931.45 required. This grant allows the Hampton’s General District Court Behavioral Health Docket to provide better oversight, community supervision, and data collection.
