Title

Fort Monroe Authority Annual Report

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

Scott Martin, CEO of the Fort Monroe Authority (FMA), and Jay Joseph, Chair of the FMA Board of Directors, will review the purpose of the FMA and update Council on the current work taking place to lead Fort Monroe into the future.  While Fort Monroe is part of the City of Hampton, it is administered by the Fort Monroe Authority, which is an independent State Authority established to oversee the reuse of the property.

Impact:

Fort Monroe is one of Hampton's defining landmarks and one of the most historically significant military installations in the United States.  It has been a very important part of Hampton's past and will continue to be an important part of the City's future.  Therefore, continuing to work with the Fort Monroe Authority as it shapes the future of the Fort is an important part of moving the City forward.
