To approve the resolution in recognition of Councilwoman MIchelle Ferebee.

To approve the resolution in recognition of Councilwoman Michelle Ferebee.
Body
WHEREAS, Michelle Ferebee was born on September 29, 1961, and is a native of the City of Hampton, Virginia;
WHEREAS, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and completed graduate courses in Computer Science at the College of William and Mary;
WHEREAS, she currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Strategic Analysis, Communications and Business Development at NASA Langley Research Center;
WHEREAS, she is the recipient of a number of awards and recognitions, including the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal; Women of Color in STEM award for Corporate Responsibility; Girl’s Incorporated Shining Star Award; and “Hidden Figures Award, Women Inspiring Women to Change the World.” She was also recognized by the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast as a Famous Former Girl Scout;
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Ferebee is the author and co-author of more than a dozen technical publications and has presented research at national and international conferences;
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Ferebee is a member of the Hampton Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a graduate of the CIVIC Leadership Institute, and a former member of the Virginia Living Museum, Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula, St. Andrews Episcopal School Board of Trustees and the Junior League of Hampton Roads;
WHEREAS, she was a member of the City of Hampton Economic Development Authority from 2013 until 2021;
WHEREAS, in January 2022, Councilwoman Ferebee was appointed to the Hampton City Council to fill the remaining portion of an unexpired term;
WHEREAS, during her time on Council, she was an advocate for competitive wages for City employees, and economic development and neighborhood redevelopment projects....
