Consideration of Hampton Carousel Location
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
On February 22, 2023, the City Council received a presentation on an Evaluation Study providing an overview of the possibilities of relocating the carousel with high level advantages and disadvantages of options for consideration. This included information from consultant Tom Tingle, the Downtown Hampton Development Partnership, and city staff.
On March 23, 2023, a public information and comment session was hosted at the Hampton Roads Convention Center followed by a Facebook Live opportunity on March 28, 2023.
On April 26, 2023, Robin McCormick presented the results of the public information and comment sessions to City Council. Tom Tingle also presented options for placement at Blue Bird Gap Farm as several members of the public had suggested that as an alternative location. To give sufficient time for public review of the new option, the City Manager suggested that the Council discussion and further public comment be done at the June Council meeting. Anyone desiring to speak on the item will be heard under Public Comment. It is anticipated that Council may take action following such comments.
