Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The briefing will provide an update on the crime statistics and trends in the City of Hampton.  The briefing will cover some of the strategies the Hampton Police Division is employing to reduce and prevent crime.  The briefing will also serve as an introduction of the new Police Chief Jimmie Wideman.

Discussion:

This briefing is the annual review of crime statistics and trends in the City of Hampton.  The briefing will explore the crime data for the City of Hampton and the region.  The presentation will also involve a high-level discussion of some of the strategies and tactics that are being employed by the Hampton Police Division in their continuing efforts to reduce and prevent crime in the city.
