Consideration of an Appointment to the Wetlands Board
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Brandon Washington has resigned from the board. Council is being asked to appoint an individual to fill the unexpired portion of the term until December 30, 2026.
A vacancy remains for an alternate. Staff is working on advertising to gain additional applications to serve.
There are individuals in the Board Bank who have expressed a desire to serve on this board. Those applications are being provided to Council.

Recommendation is to appoint current alternate James Mershon to a full board member.
(NOTE: The recommendation attached recommends Dr. Martha Tennille be appointed as the alternate, unfortunately she is unable to serve on the Wetlands as she serves on the Hampton VA250 Committee.)
Members of the Wetlands Board shall hold no public office in the county or city other than membership on the local planning or zoning commission, the local erosion commission, the local board of zoning appeals, a board established by a local government to hear cases regarding ordinances adopted pursuant to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act and regulations promulgated thereunder, or as director of a soil and water conservation board.
