Briefing on the Public Comment Statistics
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
In recent years, Council has discussed how to improve the efficiency of Council meetings. In 2014, Council chose to remove Public Comment as separate meeting that occurred prior to the Legislative Session, and instead make it a part of the Legislative Session, occurring upon completion of the regular Agenda.
At the Legislative Session of August 10, 2016, Council voted to temporarily move Public Comment to earlier on the Agenda, before General Items and after Public Hearing Items, based on discussion that occurred during a Council retreat. This trail basis was to last until February 8, 2017.
An Ordinance Amendment has been prepared for tonight’s Legislative Session for Council’s consideration that would codify this change.
