Resolution to Accept and Appropriate the 2015 Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) Grant awarded to the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue (HDFR) by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services-Rescue Squad Assistance Fund
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this RSAF Grant is to purchase 14 ambulance child restraints.
Discussion:
The NEW Quantum ACR4 (Ambulance Child Restraint) is an innovative, flexible and fully adjustable harnessing system. It is the only pediatric restraint in the world that allows for the safe and secure transport of newborns and children weighing 4lbs - 99lbs with a single device. When the patient is restrained, the ACR4 allows complete access from the airway to the waist to effectively perform procedures while the patient remains restrained.
The RSAF Grant is 50/50 match which totals $10,386.88 ($5,193.44 grant with matching funds of $5,193.44 from HDFR's FY16 budget).
Impact:
Using these new ambulance child restraints will allow HDFR to transport infants and small children safely from the scene of the event to the hospital.

WHEREAS, the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services-Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) has awarded the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue (HDFR) a 50/50 grant match which totals $10,386.44; and
WHEREAS, the grant award covers the period from 1/1/2016 to 12/31/2016; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant award is to purchase fourteen (14) Quantum ACR4 Ambulance Child Restraints;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia accepts and appropriates the RSAF Grant in the amount of $5,193.44, and any related supplemental funding, and approves the required matching funds from HDFR's fiscal year 2016 budget in the amount of $5,193.44. The total grant is $10,386.88.
