Title

Resolution to Accept and Appropriate the 2015 Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) Grant awarded to the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue (HDFR) by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services-Rescue Squad Assistance Fund

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this RSAF Grant is to purchase 14 ambulance child restraints.

Discussion:

The NEW Quantum ACR4 (Ambulance Child Restraint) is an innovative, flexible and fully adjustable harnessing system.  It is the only pediatric restraint in the world that allows for the safe and secure transport of newborns and children weighing 4lbs - 99lbs with a single device. When the patient is restrained, the ACR4 allows complete access from the airway to the waist to effectively perform procedures while the patient remains restrained.

The RSAF Grant is 50/50 match which totals $10,386.88 ($5,193.44 grant with matching funds of $5,193.44 from HDFR's FY16 budget).

Impact:

Using these new ambulance child restraints will allow HDFR to transport infants and small children safely from the scene of the event to the hospital.
