Title

Resolution Approving Donation of a Ballistic Vest and Vest Carrier to the Creston Police Department in Creston, Ohio.

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The Creston Police Department in Creston, Ohio, has put out a request to other law-enforcement agencies for donation of one ballistic vest and carrier.  The Creston Police Department was struck by tragedy in August of 2024 when its Police Chief was severely injured in a vehicle accident that left him paralyzed.  The Hampton Police Division's Training Unit has a surplus ballistic vest and carrier that would meet the needs of this small police department.  The vest has three serviceable years left before expiration, and the carrier was sent by the vendor in the incorrect color.  Although the vendor replaced the carrier, it chose not to take back the incorrect one.

Impact:

The current value of the vest is approximately $390.00.

Recommendation:

Rec

Approve the Resolution.
