Briefing on Chapter 21 Amendment - Distracted Driving
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
At the January 9, 2019, City Council meeting, Council approved a new distracted driving ordinance. Local news reporting initially misreported that this ordinance required hands-free driving. This presentation will provide clarification of the ordinance approved as well as cover existing state law as well as other localities' laws related to distracted driving.
