Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Council Approved Budget to Accept and Appropriate the Fiscal Year 2025 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Education Program Grant Awarded by Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), Virginia 911 Services Board.
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management, 911 Services Board has awarded the City Of Hampton the Public Safety Answering Point Education Grant funding in the amount of $4,000, with no local match required. These funds are to be used to support ongoing dispatch related training and staff development, via online, in person and/or Communications Conference attendance.
Discussion:
The PSAP Education Grant is an annual allotment from the 911 Services Board that is provided to the City of Hampton for the use of PSAP Center Staff to attend specialized ongoing training in such fields as Emergency Medical Dispatch to ensure staff are properly certified and maintain such certifications. Funding can also be used for personnel to attend specialized PSAP based Conferences in the State of Virginia, should any be offered during the grant period.
Impact:
The City has been awarded $4,000 in grant funds from VDEM. No local cash or in-kind match is required.
