Title
Summary of Community Input re: Fox Hill Neighborhood Center Site Options

Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The City Council has set aside $7.0 million to construct two new neighborhood centers. $3.5 millon has been budgeted for each center. One center will be located in the Olde Hampton neighborhood. The other center will be located in the Fox Hill neighborhood. The site for the Olde Hampton center has previously been determined. It will be located in Grant Park, at the site of the previous center which was demolished in early 2016. Staff recently conducted a community input process to obtain feedback from the community about possible sites for the Fox Hill center.

Discussion:

Attached is a report from the Community Development Department that provides a summary of the community input received at a community meeting on January 12, 2017 as well as an online survey that was conducted in February 2017. In a polling exercise at the community meeting, 72% of the 57 participants selected Cornerstone Church as their number one site. The number two site selected was Gosnold's Hope Park, receiving 10% of the votes for the top site. In the online survey conducted the following month, Cornerstone Church also received the most votes in the top choice category (39% of the 219 responses) among respondents in the 23664 zip code. This zip code includes Fox Hill Proper. A map of the zip code boundaries is in the attached report on page six. The Willow Oaks Shopping Center was ranked number two by this subset of the respondents receiving 29% of the 219 responses. When the entire sample of the online survey is considered, the results are flipped with the Willow Oaks site receiving 40% of the votes for the top choice category and Cornerstone Church receiving 25%.

Selecting a site for the Fox Hill Neighborhood Center will allow staff to move forward with the project.
