Motion to Accept, Pursuant to City Code Section 2-134(a), the Donation of a 4.830 Acres, More or Less, Parcel of Land From Oxford Contracting, LLC
Purpose
Purpose/Background:
The City was first approached by Oxford Hampton Partners, LLC, then owners of certain property located in the City of Hampton off of North Armistead Avenue, containing approximately 4.830 +/- acres (LRSN 13002789), with portions abutting property already owned by the City of Hampton which backs up to Newmarket Creek (LRSN 13001302). Oxford Hampton Partners, LLC subsequently conveyed the property to one of their subsidiaries, Oxford Contracting, LLC. Oxford Contracting, LLC now wishes to make a donation of said property to the City of Hampton.
Pursuant to Section 2-134 of the City Code of the City of Hampton, Council approval is a prerequisite to acceptance of certain gifts to the City. Section 2-134(a) specifically states that gifts of real property valued at five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) or more shall be "approved by the council, by appropriate motion duly recorded in the council minutes, before such gift shall be deemed to have been accepted by the city". The FY 2017 value of this parcel is $216,600.00.
The City wishes to accept this donation of real estate offered by Oxford Contracting, LLC.
Discussion:
The donation of property valued at $216,600.00 requires acceptance by City Council via motion pursuant to City Code Section 2-134(a).
Impact:
The donation of a parcel of land assessed at $216,600.090 will be substantially valuable to the City of Hampton.
