Briefing on Hurricane Preparedness and Evacuation Planning
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
This presentation is to encourage residents to prepare for the hurricane season through developing a family disaster plan and a disaster supply kit. It also helps residents to better understand the new State Tiered Evacuation Zones A-D that were just rolled out on June 1, 2017. The City has evacuation plans that are in accordance with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Hurricane Traffic Control Plan, revised 2001. Our local planning efforts also include those residents who are transportation dependent and will need assistance if an evacuation is ordered.
