Hampton Transit Development Plan
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
As part of a 10-year Transit Development Plan process, Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has been reviewing bus routes throughout the City and is considering recommending changes to routes to improve their performance and efficiency. HRT will be holding a public meeting in late September where the public will be able to review the proposed changes and ask questions. Any recommendations from the Plan may be implemented over time.
Discussion:
The HRT bus system is used by residents of Hampton to get to and from work, shopping and other needs. The City is budgeted to spend nearly $4.8 million on HRT services in FY2018.
Impact:
Transportation issues primarily impact Council Strategic Priority areas of Family Resilience and Economic Empowerment and Economic Growth.
