Briefing on Cemetery Maintenance
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Hampton has several abandoned and/or neglected cemeteries that residents have asked the City to address. All of these cemeteries are privately owned which limits what the City can legally do. This briefing is intended to provide an overview of the issue as well as the legal and financial impediments to action. We will also discuss community based volunteer efforts that have been undertaken as an alternative.
This section should provide a summary of the issue before the Council to include any past history that is pertinent to the subject.
