Title
Resolution to Amend the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget and Appropriate $1,000,000 of Funds from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to the Capital Project Fund for Construction Costs to Repave Portions of Fox Hill Road and Settler’s Landing Road

Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The City is proposing to mill and overlay Fox Hill Road from Old Fox Hill Road to Lake Philips Drive and Settler’s Landing Road from the Booker T. Washington Bridge to Tyler Street.

Discussion:

The City was recently awarded the VDOT State of Good Repair Project funds to pay for milling and overlay of these two sections of roadway. It is estimated that it will cost $570,000 to mill and overlay Fox Hill Road and $430,000 to mill and overlay Settler’s Landing Road. These State of Good Repair funds are 100% State funds and are 100% reimbursable. City Council approved a resolution on November 8, 2017 requesting that VDOT program this project into its Six Year Improvement Plan.

Impact:

These two projects will save the City CIP and operating funds normally used for milling and overlay.
