Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
This resolution amends the resolution establishing the Hampton Senior Citizens Advisory Committee (SCAC) and approves its bylaws.

Discussion:

It is recommended that the following items be amended in the resolution so that the new bylaws can be adopted by the SCAC. The Bylaws have been reviewed by the SCAC.

ITEM: Number of Voting Members
The current resolution (#13-0473) provides for 17 Committee members. In practice, City Council has been filling 11 slots with voting members and the remaining six slots have been agency representatives (Peninsula Area Agency on Aging, Department of Human Services, Department of Social Services (DSS) DSS - Adult Services, DSS - Foster Grandparents Program, Health Department, and Community Services Board).

RECOMMENDED CHANGE: Identify four (4) agency or City department representatives to include the Peninsula Agency on Aging, City Manager's Office, Department of Human Services and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services. These members are non-voting and service is tied to their position in the agency or department. More than one representative from the agency or department may attend the meetings which will allow for DHS to continue to include its Adult Services and Foster Grandparents representatives in addition to its Director at the meeting. The purpose of the agency and department representatives is to enhance information sharing and serve as a resource to the Committee. City Department representatives provide support to the Committee (meeting logistics, meeting minutes, etc.).
